02 / Information to prepare

What an official report should contain

Provide facts, dates, URLs, usernames, and the context in which material was observed. Upload files only when the official reporting service specifically requests them. Do not submit rumor as fact or characterize a person as guilty.

01

Nonconsensual intimate imagery

Real, altered, or AI-generated nude or sexually explicit depictions distributed without the depicted person’s consent.

02

Harassment and coercion

Repeated unwanted contact, sexual harassment, demands for images, intimidation, doxxing, or threats to disclose intimate material.

03

Threats and extortion

Threats of physical injury, reputational harm, exposure, payment demands, or coercive demands for additional content.

04

Suspected national-security activity

Specific conduct suggesting violent plots, recruitment, funding, operational support, or coordination with foreign actors. Beliefs, nationality, or political views alone are not evidence.

Law may protect victims and prohibit the reported conduct.

These provisions may apply depending on facts, intent, interstate activity, jurisdiction, and the age of anyone depicted. This page does not determine that a violation occurred and is not legal advice.

TAKE IT DOWN Act

Federal law addresses intentional publication and certain threats involving nonconsensual intimate depictions, including qualifying AI-generated “digital forgeries.” Covered platforms must provide a notice-and-removal process and act on valid requests.

04 / Evidence protocol

Preserve; do not circulate.

A user list, screenshot, allegation, or account name is not proof by itself. Preserve context and provenance so qualified reviewers can assess it.

  1. 01

    Keep the original

Retain original messages, URLs, usernames, timestamps, headers, and files. Do not crop or enhance the only copy.

  2. 02

    Record how you obtained it

Write down when, where, and how the material was received or observed, and whether anyone else witnessed it.

  3. 03

Do not publish the member list

Keep the list restricted. Identify which entries are firsthand observations, corroborated records, or unverified leads.

  4. 04

    Avoid additional harm

Do not repost intimate imagery, contact suspected users, warn potential subjects, or conduct unauthorized access. Provide material only through an approved secure channel or directly to authorities.

05 / Safer reporting procedure

01

Identify

Choose the authority or specialist service that matches the conduct and jurisdiction.

02

Preserve

Keep original URLs, messages, usernames, and timestamps without redistributing harmful content.

03

Report

Submit facts directly through the official form and retain the confirmation or reference number.

04

Follow up

Use the authority’s official channel for updates and consult qualified counsel when appropriate.
